Overseas Enrolment

According to a report recentley published by the Beijing Normal University in November 2023, Chinese parents spent an estimated $118 billion to offer foreign education to their children, including summer courses and various other programs spanning high school, pre university, graduate, post graduate, doctoral, post doctoral as well as overseas living expenses. Furthermore Chinese parents are the primary decision makers regarding which school their children will attend as the parents place a high value on education for their children, costs is rarely the main consideration or objective.

Our research indicates that 90% of Chinese nationals with assets of more than 100 million yuan ($16 million usd ) plan to send their children abroad, while 85 percent of those with at least $1 million usd said they would send their children overseas for education. China’s growing middle class also have aspirations to send their children abroad for an education

As well as a desire in learning the English foreign language within China, there is also a record number of Chinese students studying abroad mostly funded by elite and upper class families. According to Government figures recentley released put the number of Chinese nationals studying abroad at 5.9 million as of the end of 2023, more than any other nationality.

Students from China study in over 100 countries with popular destinations such as the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, UK, South Korea, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, France, Germany, Thailand, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzeland and Russia to name a few. Given the shortage of university places domestically, more Chinese students are going abroad for overseas enrolment for International Education. Currently English courses and preparation classes take place at state high schools where students aim for universities abroad or via private professional training agencies which prepare AP and SAT preparation classes.
